to those of the admininstrative medical assistant's.
Medical Data and Coding Assistant duties often include preparation of letters and documents, word processing,
filing, faxing and general support of the physician and office staff.Medical data assistant students, graduates and
those already working in the field are introduced to other related allied health professions and career options in
medical offices, clinics, or healthcare facilities. This position requires proficiency with various filing
procedures, details, organizational skills and ability to work well with limited supervision.
Medical Data Assistant's Job Description
The Medical Data Assistant works in medical offices, clinics, hospitals, medical insurance companies, medical
equipment suppliers and other healthcare institutions. They develop, implement and maintain health information
systems and works closely with many other healthcare professionals to contribute to the management of health
information and quality care.
They classify, code, cross-reference and store health records and related data, protect the privacy and security
of data, analyze data and turn it into reports. They control the release of medico-legal information, reviewing
patient record upon discharge and determine the accuracy and completeness of these records.
